QUILTS

Reading from left to right in the row below.

The first two quilts here could be described as samplers, constructed from the centre outwards and using a variety of shapes and patch designs. The final round of patches in each is of “pinwheel”.  The third quilt is made of log cabin patches assembled in the design  known as “ploughed field”.

The row below.

The quilt on the left is a Victorian lap quilt pieced together of velvet and silk/satin diagonal stripes, and decorated with strips of lace.  That on the right is made of Roman Squares.  In every case the work has been finished with straight borders of plain or patterned fabric.   All quilts were made as gifts.

This wall hanging was a present for a friend who needed something with clear, bright colours in order to practise her Bates eye exercises.
