Suzanne is a founder member of The Caledon Singers and The GentleFolk,  both of which give concerts to audiences large and small in venues ranging from the intimate to credible imitations of  the old St.Pancras Station.  The audiences can range from toddlers to centenarians, sometimes on the same occasion

Suzanne trained in Yorkshire, Belgium and Germany, and has accumulated a substantial amount of opera chorus experience.  It would be sad if the reader thought singing was purely a stress-free piece of cake, but one of the delights of the profession is the tours abroad.  They may be hard work, with flight check-in times varying from the grisly to the unearthly, but they are fun.  So thanks, in chronological order to:  Opéra Royale de Wallonie,( Belgium, Holland and Canada)  Bühnen der Stadt Köln, (Germany, Holland and Edinburgh) Lyons Opera, (France) and finally to our own Royal Opera House, for a wonderful fortnight in Jerusalem.

Other choral groups have provided work in Italy and Spain as well, so if it weren’t for the fact that Suzanne has relatives in Scandinavia, she would never need to leave England.  Recently, however, she managed to combine a family visit with the Scandinavian Squeeze-in, a Folk Music Weekend in southern Sweden featuring many concertinas and other instruments, and even some Swedish dance (see more here).

Current activities include being the Alto in the St.Giles Quartet, St. Giles Church Cripplegate, one of London’s City churches which maintains a professional choir.  We are sometimes asked how many singers there are in a quartet.  The answer in this case is five

Suzanne’s long-standing interest in historical costume, which began untold years ago as the hobby of dressing dolls, has developed into a useful and absorbing skill

She makes most of her own concert dresses, and has also made costumes for various opera productions. To view some examples, click here.
