Sweaters -1

This design uses up the wool remnants which seem to proliferate wherever a knitter is found. The design is an eight row repeat:

  • Four rows  colour A

  • One row colour B

  • Two rows  Colours C and D alternating every two stitches to form four stitch squares

  • One row colour  B

Or in diagram form:

Originally devised to be knitted in double knitting, this design also works well in heavier wools.

Sweaters - 2

This sweater is in fact a fairly standard Fairisle pattern, but knitted in Chunky and with frequent changes of colour.  The result looks Scandinavian.  The sweater shown was a gift for someone rather larger than the model!

Sweaters - 3

This sweater was knitted  in DK over several years as a sampler of various design ideas.  It is somewhat overshadowed by the two kittens, offspring of  the lovely but now deceased Harriet.

Here you can see the Fair Isle pattern in three colourways.  The pink number was a 6th birthday present for a friend’s granddaughter.

The sheep in the apple orchard pattern, with or without cat, is my third main knitting pattern.  As a Freeman of the City of London, when crossing London Bridge I would rather wear my sheep than drive them.
