Translations of Weckerlin's Bergerettes

The ABRSM’s new Singing Syllabus includes several of these charming songs. I publish these singing translations here as an addition to those already available. Copyright remains mine, but they are free to download and perform.

It was in Primary Schools that the total creation of songs took off for me:  the immediate pupil response was an infallible indicator of whether any musical or verbal idea was to be a hit or a miss!  Songs with a seasonal theme or related to the school day proved to be top favourites, “seasonal” including  the Easter Bunny and Divali as well as Christmas .

There has been an in house market for song arrangements in Adult Education, both with my adult choirs and more ad hoc  group singing classes. These vary in vocal divisions and classification from term to term, and so call for an extremely flexible use of material.

My other main area of song arranging is of folk songs; both those performed under the Gentlefolk umbrella and  those used in education.  The instrumental arrangements are my responsibility, with Patrick sorting out the drum and spoons!

With my participation in the concertina trio Spare Parts, the field has expanded. We all write and arrange for the group, our most recent performance of home grown material being at the 2007 Chippenham Folk Festival.
